The Book Is A Gentleman In Moscow By A Myrtles This Is A Myrtles Second Book That He's Written And I Really Enjoyed Reading This It's Set In 1920s Russia The Main Character Count Rostov Is An Aristocrat But We're In Post-Revolution Russia And Count Rostov Has Been Tried But Instead Of Being Assassinated Like All Of The Rest Of The Aristocrats He's Been Sentenced To House Arrest In The Hotel That He's Living In The Metropole In The Center Of Moscow Already It's An Unlikely Scenario But Stick With Me So The Story Basically Focuses On Count
Rostov In This Hotel In The Metropole Hotel Interacting With The People Who Flow Through It This Book Spans About 40 Years From The 1920s Into The 1960s And You Kind Of Follow The Development Of Communism And Rostov Can't Escape It Right After His Trial He's Sent Back To The Hotel And He Thinks He Can Just Go Living On Living In This Beautiful Suite That He That He's Always Lived In With All Of His Beautiful Things With His From His Ancestors But No Of Course Not He Gets Shoved Up Into The Servants Quarters Into A Smaller Room So Already His World Has Kind Of Shrunk From He Used To Have All The Fresh It At His Fingertips And Now He's Confined To A Smaller World That's The Metropole Hotel
That's Kind Of Represented When He Goes from This Huge Beautiful Suite Into These Little Servant Quarters Upstairs And Also I Started Growing Up Of The Communist Regime In One Specific Character Who Plays A Waiter In The Hotel For The Bishop Karen I'm Talking About He's Not Actually A Bishop He Just Reminds Travel Stuff Was The Bishop So He's Always Referred To As The Bishop But The Bishop Kind Of Starts Off At The Beginning Of The Book In The 1920s Very
Early After The Revolution That's This Fumbling Waiter And One Of The Less Classy Restaurants In The Hotel And Eventually He Develops And Grows And Into The Manager Of The Hotel I Don't Know I Saw Just The Evolution Of Communism As It Got A Stronger Hold And A Steadier Stance In The World You Can Kind Of See That In The In The Bishop As He Grows As He As He Matures In In This

Story count Rostov also meets a young girl in the hotel and he has a lot of really interesting interactions with her and you see their relationship develop and change as she goes up because I think she starts off very young maybe six or seven and then grows up to maybe 12 and you should see her growing up in this story I also who loved the ending of this I highly recommend this book I highly recommend Engler Tolls actually
Hi I've read - I've read his only two books so I got this one for Christmas and I guess he wrote Rules of Civility back in 2011 I read it back in 2011 so I can't tell you much about it any more except that it's about a young girl in the 1930s and by chance on Year's Eve she and her friend meet a wealthy businessman they made a wealthy businessman and them kind of get drawn up into higher society in New York City in the 1930s so it's really it's got this I don't know if the great gatsby fan in me what really enjoyed this even though it's set ten years later in the 1930s as opposed to the 1920s it still reminded me of the great gatsby in places both books are just written so beautifully I really enjoy his writing
Which is nice and anyways I think both books are really worth reading also another the thing that come up is that gentlemen in Moscow he references so much so much Tolstoy in this and he actually this motivated you to pick up and finish or in peace
Anyways I haven't recommended this book I had to recommend both books by myrtle's if you guys have read they said you guys have the same thoughts that I have had about these let me know comment down below it's great to be making me so come I've got it I've got apologize, guys, I'm Canadian hope to see you guys soon hi
